The Turkey-Egypt International Workshop, hosted by the Center for Diplomatic Affairs and Political Studies (DIPAM), took place online on May 31, 2021 with the theme “The Two Gates of the Eastern Mediterranean”.
The workshop lasted for half a day with the participation of academics, researchers, journalists and politicians from different countries, especially Turkey and Egypt. The Chatham House principle was adopted in the workshop attended only by the invitees.
Participants discussed the basis of the problem in Turkey-Egypt bilateral relations and expressed suggestions for a solution. In this context, comments, suggestions and discussions took place in many dimensions such as the domestic and foreign policies of the two countries, the effects of developments in the region, mutual discourses, different cooperations, historical background, diplomatic moves.
The existence of this civil initiative taken in terms of relations between Turkey and Egypt as a second lane diplomacy was appreciated, and a consensus was reached for the realization of similar activities under this initiative of DIPAM.
