Biography
Prof. Arzu AL completed her undergraduate education at Yeditepe University’s Department of Political Science and International Relations. She completed her master’s degree at Marmara University’s Middle East Studies Institute, defending her thesis titled “The Repercussions of Government Coups in Iraq Between 1958 and 1979 in Turkey” and graduating in 2008. A week after graduation, she began her doctoral studies in the Accounting and Finance program at Marmara University’s Institute of Social Sciences, where she examined both the financial crises in Turkey and around the world in her thesis titled “The Effects of the Financial Crisis on Accounting Systems in Businesses.”
He has published numerous international book chapters and articles. Some of the books he has written and edited include: Turkish Foreign Policy 1918-1980; International Political Economy 1; International Political Economy: Economic Crises and Turkey; Current Studies in International Relations I-II; Eurasia in International Political Economy, etc.
Throughout her academic career, she has participated in international conferences in various countries, presenting papers on topics such as international political economy, Industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, energy and energy security, new globalization, political risk, the dichotomy of political stability and economic development, the Balkans, international trade and production, Cyprus, the Black Sea and regionalization, security, and global governance.
Arzu AL has organized numerous international and national congresses, workshops, panels, and academic meetings, bringing together academics and researchers both in our country and abroad.
She has supervised and is currently supervising numerous thesis students with a focus on international political economy.
Additionally, Arzu AL served as the Head of the Department of International Political Economy at Marmara University in 2015 and was appointed as the Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations at Marmara University in 2017. In 2018, she served as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences at Marmara University and became an Associate Professor in 2019. Between 2020 and 2023, she served as a member of the Faculty Council at the Faculty of Political Sciences at Marmara University. She became a Professor in February 2025.
