Biography
Meral BALCI graduated from English Department at Uludag University in 1984. Balcı has got her Master’s degree from Marmara University European Union (as it is called European Community) Institute’s the Department of EU Politics and International Relations with a thesis titled “A Comparative Analysis of Baltic States Membership to the EU”. BALCI completed her PhD with the thesis titled “A Portrait of a Politician: The Life and Political Activities of November Gülek (1905-1996)” at Marmara University Institute of Turkic Studies at Ataturk Principles and History of Turkish Revolution Department in 2006. BALCI acquired her second BA by completing Anadolu University-Department of International Relations. she gave English lectures at various levels, including Yıldız University Kocaeli Campus between 1985 and 1997. BALCI worked as a lecturer and coordinator at Yeditepe University between 1997-2000. Between 2000-2015, BALCI worked as an Instructor, Coordinator and Head of Department at Marmara University School of Foreign Languages. Meral BALCI has been teaching at Marmara University, Department of Political Science – Public Administration and International Relations since 2015. Between 2018 and 2019, BALCI was the Co-Head of the International Relations Department. Meral Balcı received the title of “Associate Professor” in 2018 in the Department of International Relations. Her studies focuses on Turkish Political History, Political History, Political Systems-Ideologies, Multinational Companies, Energy and Turkish Foreign Policy, especially the Multi-Party period.
